STATEMENT

STATEMENT

Having IRIS operate smoothly and efficiently is essential for many
seismological researchers, and this will become ever more important
and challenging as more and more multidisciplinary research is done
with IRIS data. As someone with a wide range of interests, from global
tomography and dense array imaging to basic mechanics and
non-traditional seismic sources, I believe I have a broad perspective
on IRIS that will be useful as IRIS transitions and eventually merges
with UNAVCO. I believe that the strength of IRIS is its serving of the
most diverse seismological community as possible, with the range of
data and services that individuals want. Difficult choices sometimes
may need to be made, and I would work to ensure that a range of
individuals’ voices are heard so that we may collectively accomplish
the best science possible.
