STATEMENT

STATEMENT

I have broad interests in seismology ranging among the precise location of small industrial events and moderate-magnitude earthquakes in remote regions; large earthquake rupture processes; and surface-wave and receiver function analysis to extract information on crustal and upper mantle structure. I consider research and integral part of education and strive to combine my research and teaching and to share the results of the effort. I have served as a member and Chair of the IRIS GSN Standing Committee and I have previously served as a member and Vice-Chair of the IRIS Board of Directors. IRIS has entered a transitional period as we consider merging with UNAVCO to form a broader and stronger geophysical community that will allow the accomplishments of the past to continue and to grow in the future. With community input and support, I hope to help with IRIS’s transition while also meeting our ongoing commitments under the current cooperative agreements.
